Thankyou Punit for promoting Dance and its growing significance in diverse places like Toronto.

Co-op Experience with Diva Diverse Inc.(International Dance Company)

This blog will showcase my Co-op experience with Diva Diverse, an International Dance Company where I interned for four months. Before unwinding the experience with Diva Diverse Inc. I would like to take you to my past experience which will help to understand more about me and my profession.

I completed my Bachleors in Mechanical Engineering from Gujarat University, India in 2010 and got employed in LNT, INDIA as an Marketing Engineer in 2011. It was during this phase, my inclination towards commercial marketing started deepening and I developed a passion in Dance. After professionally working with LNT for two years I decided to pursue further academics and took up a full time course in Strategic Relationship Marketing at George Brown College. Due to its welcoming nature and diverse culture,   Canada was my obvious choice as it is easier for international students to accommodate in a western country.

Divas at Diva Diverse!

After my first semester of Strategic Relationship Marketing, I got selected in Diva Diverse for my Co op term as a Marketing Co ordiantor. Diva Diverse is a International Dance Company which offers dance services and classes for different dance styles like Latin, Samba, Bollypop, African, Jazz, Hawaiian , Belly Dance and many more. Since it was Dance company it was a perfect opportunity for me to prove my mettle and pursue my passion which lied in Marketing and Dance. My main duties in Diva Diverse were to to promote it on a Social Media Platform like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and Go Daddy. My duties also included writing Newsletters, do Press Release, Research on new Marketing Softwares along with strategies on word of mouth marketing.

All these activies helped me sharpen my Social Media skills as I learned how to increase the value of the company intellegently on social media platform. I also learned about different dance marketing sofwares which help increase the incoming client rates in the studio. Word of mouth marketing helped improve my communication and observation skill. Along with  Marketing I also participated in many big shows organised by Diva Diverse where I showcased my Bollywood Dance skills. In clonclusion, it was an amazing experience in Diva Diverse.

The experience in Diva Diverse will always be enriching as I had an opportunity to live my dream as a Dancer and Marketer at the same time. This was definitely a dream come true for me!

Here's a video of my latest performance for Diva Diverse at their 1 LOVE DANCE show where I was also interviewed by the Asian Television Network after this performance. Enjoy!

Blog on Google Analytics

Google Analytics : It is a Web Analytics Service that provides statistics and analytical tools for Search Engine Optimization. To make use of this service it is necessary to have a google account. The main benefits of Google Analytics are as follows:

- It helps to display changes in data over a period of time with the help of data visualization tools like score cards, motion charts etc. This feature is specially beneficial for the small scale companies.

- It also helps to create customs reports.

- Segmentation of subset analysis, such as conversions.

Google Analytics is not suitable for the complex websites and larger enterprises. Also experts have raised concerns about the privacy of Google Analytics as any user can collect information on people whose website is linked to social netwoking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIMENSION v/s METRICS :

-The kind of things you see in a row of a Google Analytics report is called Dimensions.
Example of Dimensions: Language, Browser Preference, Campaign, Page(Url)

-Numbers which usually populate the rows in a Google Analytics Report is called Matrix.
Example of Matrix: In case of a City Report, there is a report showing a row with names of cities from where the visitors have come, so in this case metrics are : how many visits per cities, what the average time on site per visit was, what was the bounce rate per city and so on.7

Shall we dance?

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul”
― Martha Graham

Many people consider dance as a hobby but to others it takes place a big role in their lives. A mechanical engineer by qualification, I developed a great passion for professional dancing nearly 3 years ago. Dance has not only helped me harness my creativity but has also helped develop and understand my own abilities as an individual. I have performed 7 professional stage shows until now apart from various free lance performances at community centers including old homes and retirement centers. My very recent co op term as a marketing manager for an upcoming dance group and studio helped connect my passion for dancing along with my current academic studies as a marketing student.

There are very many different styles of dance but my personal areas of strength are Bollywood and locking popping.Bollywood is a mixture of numerous styles. These styles include belly-dancing, kathak, Indian folk, Western popular, and "modern", jazz, and even Western erotic dancing. In the strict sense the term "Bollywood" refers  to the Hindi culture, art, and film industry from Bombay. Popping and Locking is a time-honored breakdance art, and is considered as one of the definitive expressions in Hip Hop. It involves various involuntary  and violent rapid fire body contortions.
